Welcome Back to School!!
I am looking forward to seeing all the smiling faces enter my room on Thursday. It has been a relaxing summer and I am anxious to get back into the school setting.
On Friday your child will be bringing home their Friday Folder. It will have lots of papers in it for you to look over and sign. Please return the signed papers to school as soon as possible. There will also be a paper containing the spelling lists for the first 6 weeks. Please put the sheet in a safe place, so you can study with your child each week. On the reverse side are the Target Skills that we will be working on during the first 6 weeks.
The Friday Folder is normally returned on the following Monday. Since that is Labor Day, the folders need to be returned to school on Tuesday, Sept. 4th. There is a note about Back to School night in the folder also. Please make plans to attend this informative night.

Each week your child will bring home homework. On Monday and Thursday nights they will bring home a phonics reader in a Ziploc bag. They are to read the phonics reader to you three times. You need to sign the form and send it back to school in the baggie. The phonics reader should be sent back also.
On Tuesday nights a fluency reading will be sent home. This will be the reading from the story we are reading that week. Time you child for 1 minute on the passage and count the words they read correctly. Record the words read on their graph and send it all back to school the next day in the blue fluency folder.
On Friday they will bring home their Friday Folder. It is divided into two parts: Keep and Homework/Return to School. There will be two homework sheets each week. One will be a Language Arts paper and the other will be a Math paper. Please send these back to school in the Friday Folder on Monday. Keep any of the papers on the keep side.
