Week of September 17 thru 21

This week we will continuing our Silly Stories theme and will be reading "Mrs. Brown Went to Town".  It is a funny story about what the farm animals do when Mrs. Brown ends up in the hospital.  Spelling words will focus on the long vowels with the CVCe pattern.  We will continue working on writing complete sentences and will focus on the action part of the sentence.  We will be learning about farm life and how a farm runs. 

In math we will continue to work on creating proof drawings for story problems and simple addition and subtraction problems.  Students are enjoying using their whiteboards to create proof drawings and working out their math problems.

The PTA will be collecting wrapped cupcakes all week.  (Twinkies, DingDongs etc.) These may be sent to school with your child or you can bring them in.    Also they will be collecting money for the ticket the students have sold and also collecting the tickets.  Please make plans to attend the carnival on Monday, Sept. 24th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.

We are collecting Box Tops again this year.  If you have any at home, you can send them to school with your child.  Contact friends and family members and have them start collecting for your child also.

Please join the PTA if you haven't already done so.  The forms were sent home at the beginning of the year.  The cost is only $8 and all the money goes to fund activities for the students.  If you need another form, they can be found in the office.
