Dear Parents,
The following
Reading and Math skills are what your child will be learning this week. We are reading Around the Pond: Who’s Been Here?. Our genre focus is Realistic Fiction which is
realistic characters and events come to life in a fictional plot.

These
are words to practice in reading and conversation with your child.

Story Vocabulary:

feeling.

Listening Comprehension:
Listen
to a story about animals and identify similarities and differences, one animal to another

Categorize and Classify:
Means
to group together things that are alike in many ways.

Monitor and Clarify:
As
your child reads, be sure they understand what they are reading
(Monitor). If they are unsure, they
can reread to make it clear (Clarify).

Drawing Conclusions:
Readers
can use story clues to understand something that is not stated directly in
the text.
